At Staunton Harold Nurseries there is nearly always a range of bedding available for planting up your garden, patio tubs or hanging baskets. Ruth Utton, the plant area manager, selects excellent plants from many local growers, with bedding plants being delivered weekly through the busiest seasons.
Spring is the time most people think about planting their gardens with bedding plants. Hardy pansies, violas, primulas and primroses are popular in early spring when frosts are still around. The largest selection is available from late April to June; masses of varieties such as geraniums, impatiens, petunias, lobelia, gazanias, snap dragons, alysum, nemesia to name but a few. It is also at this time of year that a large variety of plants are available for planting up hanging baskets.
Bedding plants are also available in the autumn to provide colour through the autumn and winter months. Again, pansies and violas are the most popular at this time as they flower prolifically and are frost hardy.
